Grapenut Bread

1 c. Grapenuts
2 c. Scalded Milk
1 Large Egg
3/4 c. Sugar
3 c. Flour
4 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Salt

1.) Pour Milk Over Grapenuts and let stand until cool.
2.) Add beaten egg
3.) Sift with fork flour,salt and baking powder.
4.) Add to mixture and form into ball.
5.) Put in greased loaf pan and let stand 20 minutes
6.) Bake at 350f. for 1 1/2 hours
Raisin Buttermilk Bread

4c flour
5 tbsp Crisco
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tarter
3 tsp sugar (if available)
2 eggs
Buttermilk to make soft
dough
1c Sultana Raisins

Sift flour,salt,soda and cream of tarter into a basin,rub in crisco fine,Add sugar,raisins with 2 eggs well beaten and sufficient buttermilk,to make soft dough.
make into smooth mound,roll out,divide into 4 pieces lay on greased tin and bake in moderate oven (wood) 375`for conventional

Coffee Bread

3/4 c. Milk
1/2 c. melted crisco
1/2 yeast cake
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. lemon extract
1/4 c. chopped walnuts
flour

Heat milk slightly,then add flour to make batter,put yeast in a little lukewarm water. Allow to rise until light, then add crisco and eggs well beaten,sugar,lemon,salt and enough flour to make stiff dough.
Knead 10 minutes and let rise until light.
Place in greased pan and let rise again.
Spread with melted crisco,and sprinkle with sugar,cinnamon and nuts.
Bake in hot oven for 30 minutes.
Ice Box Rolls

1 tsp. yeast
1/2 c. lukewarm water
2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. mashed potato
1 c. milk
2 eggs
flour

Add yeast to lukewarm water
scald the milk.
Add shortening,sugar and salt to the milk.
when mix gets lukewarm then qadd the yeast.
Mix thoroughly then add well beaten eggs and stir in enough flour to form a stiff dough.
turn out onto floured board and kneed well.
let rise
refridgerate
when needed cut off a bit and shape into rolls then let rise and bake in a hot oven.
temp.425    time:20 minutes
Sour Cream Muffins

1 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. sugar
3/4 tsp. Baking soda
2 eggs well beaten
3/4 c. sour cream
3 tsp. melted butter

add dry ingredients in bowl and sift with fork.
Add eggs,sour cream and butter and mix well.
Bake 20 minutes @ 350f.
Bath Buns

1/4 c. honey or light corn syrup
3/4 c hot water
3/4 c white sugar
4 c. flour
1 1/2 tbsp. crisco

take a small bowl and combine the honey and a quarter cup of the hot water.
then in another bowl combine sugar and remaining water,cover both bowls and let sit overnight.
in a large bowl add flour and cut in crisco until it looks like coarse crumbles the stir in honey and sugar mixtures til smooth.
flour surface then roll out dough a 1/4 in thick
use glass to cut out rounds and place an inch apart on greased baking sheet.
375 for 12 to 14 minutes
Boston Brown Bread

1 c. Ryemeal
2 tbsp. Crisco
1 c. Sugar
1 c. Cornmeal
1 c. Graham flour
3/4 tbsp. Baking soda
1/3 tsp. Salt
3/4 c. Molasses
1 3/4 c. Whole Milk

Sift dry ingredients.

Dissolve soda with 1 tbsp. hot water,
add to molasses then add milk and
mix with dry ingredients.

Turn into greased mold 2/3 full,
grease cover then
steam steadily
3 1/2 hours.

Makes 1 loaf
Banana Bread Machine Style

1 1/2 c. warm water

2 tsp. Yeast

1 tbsp. Sugar

Activate yeast till foaming

Add liquid to bread pan

3 tbsp butter Crisco

2 c. flour

1/2 cup sugar

3 sliced well ripe bananas

Add 2 c. flour on top

2 tbsp. dry milk

Setting 10, medium crust

total time 4  hours

til cool down

Rustic Log Cabin Rolls

2 tsp. yeast

3/4 c. Warm milk

Activate yeast in milk

Add into bowl add

6 tbsp. sugar,

1 3/4  tsp. salt,

1/4 c. Crisco,

3/4 c. lukewarm water

5 c. flour

Knead on floured board

cover with cloth and let rise to double.

cut into 2 inch rounds

brush lightly with butter

fold and press each then place on
well oiled sheet.

cover and let rise .....

Bake at 450f. for 14 - 18 minutes
Rye Rolls

1 c. flour

3 c. rye flour

1 tsp. salt

6 tsp. baking powder (2 tbsp.)

1 1/2 c. Milk

1 tbsp. melted Crisco

Directions:

Sift dry ingredients together;Add melted
Crisco and milk to make soft dough.

Knead on floured board;shape into rolls.

Place into greased pans and stand in warm
place for 20 minutes.

Bake in Hot oven (475f.) 15 to 20 minutes.
BigT's Bawlin Banana Muffins

6 ripe bananas

2/3 c. Soft Butter

2 large eggs

3/4 c. White sugar

2 tsp. vanilla

Beat in mixer very well

Whisk Dry Ingredients

1 tsp. Cinnamon

1 tsp. Nutmeg

Add to cream mixture slowly.

Grease Muffin Tin and Spoon in

Preheat Oven to 350 f. Bake 30 minutes
Southern Spoon Bread

1/2 c. Yellow Cornmeal

1 tsp. Baking powder

1/2 tsp. Salt

1/4 tsp. Baking soda

1/2 c. Boiling Water

2 well beaten eggs

1 c. Buttermilk

3 tbsp. Melted butter

Preheat oven to 400 f.

Directions;

Sift together cornmeal , Baking powder
Salt and soda.

While stirring add in boiling water.

Then add eggs stirring then add buttermilk

Melt butter in baking dish,coating sides well.

Pour in mixture and place in oven.

Bake for 45 minutes
